Records & targets
Project 3×24 is a timed, record-focused attempt to summit Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu within a single 24-hour window.
This page explains what the project is targeting, which benchmark records are being challenged, and what counts as a valid attempt under the project’s own stated timing rules.

RECORDS & TARGETS
The proposal defines two major objectives:
Summit Everest, Lhotse, and Makalu within 24 hours.
Set the fastest known time from the summit of Everest to the summit of Lhotse within 5 hours.
These targets are designed to be clear, measurable, and easy to understand—whether you are a supporter, sponsor, or member of the media.

48 hours 30 minutes (2019)— achieved by Nirmal Purja.

6 hours 1 minute (2019)— achieved by Mingma Dorchi Sherpa.
TARGET
To avoid confusion, the proposal includes both a formal objective and a faster "aim" for the Everest → Lhotse split:
Objective
within 5 hours
Aim
4.5 hours (conditions-dependent)
Everest + Lhotse + Makalu within 24 hours
The "objective" is the official target stated in the mission. The "aim" is the aggressive performance goal stated in the climbing strategy.
Partnership Opportunities
The proposal describes a continuous flow designed to fit the 24-hour window:
After Everest, the climber makes an immediate push down to Camp III, where the Lhotse climb begins.
After summiting Lhotse, the descent begins while a helicopter stays on standby to fly immediately to Makalu Base Camp.
Once dropped at Makalu Base Camp, the climb begins immediately and ends at Makalu summit within the same 24-hour window.
